We are just two days away from the new year! most of you probably feel again like this year came and went in the blink of an eye, and it kinda did didn't it?!
Did you manage to achieve what you set out for 2021?
Did you even set any goals or were you just glad to have made it out of here in one piece!
For the first few years of my self-employed/biz life I honestly just totally winged it and I made so many mistakes by doing that (but learnt many, many valuable lessons too).
I used to envy my super organised pals and I never thought of myself as organised at all.
Skip ahead a few years in business and here I am, slowly becoming more and more organised.
Life can definitely get in the way at times and throw a curve ball right into your pre-planned, well organised schedule so being adaptable is a trait that is not only handy to have but I'd say absolutely nessaccary to have if your self-employed or a business owner.
If you're not a naturally organised person though, can you still be successful in your business? Well yes you can, if you're good at handling chaos! but taking small steps to organise your time and priorities will definitely prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and burnout. Trust me-i've been there.
So.... How do you kick off 2022 successfully and set yourself up for the best year yet?
Set your goals.
Goal setting I have found to be an absolute game changer. I know you see this advice all over social media and maybe you wonder if it works. Well it does.
I love a beautiful note book (who doesn't?) and every year I buy a new beautiful note book and this becomes my goal setting journal for the year.
At the very front I set out what I want just from my life in general.
The following page is what I'd like to achieve by the end of the year.
So page one is Life Goals and page 2 is This Years Goals
For the rest of the year on an almost daily basis I write down each morning, just 10 things that I am grateful for and why. I read them back to myself and say thank you.
At the end of each day I write down 3 amazing things that happened that day and I read these things back and remember how happy I am that these 3 things happened.
They can be spontaneous meetings, or they could be little goals you've hit.
Each day I ask myself 'what did I do today to get myself closer to those goals?'
When I feel unmotivated I ask myself 'have I reached my goals yet?' and when the answer is no, then I spring into action!
Business and financial goals are a lot like dieting. To see the results you have to be committed, consistent, self-motivated and accountable.
No one will do it for you and most people will say your obsessed, work too much, or won't understand why you're turning down nights out partying to stay in and work on your empire.
Ask yourself what is your motivation for hitting your life goals?
when you know what your driver is, then on the days you lack motivation you can just ask yourself WHY your aiming for this goal and you'll find motivation by the bucket loads!
I say I do this ALMOST every day, because some days I really need to write it down and other days I just get used to waking up and knowing what i'm grateful for and I know in my mind what my goals are and like a bull in a china shop-i go after them with all i've got.
So my advice to you.... SET THEM GOALS!
-Write them down for the year
-Write them down for the month
-Check in weekly to see what progress you have made towards them
-If you feel you haven't done enough then get back up and get going again. Remember WHY you're aiming for these goals.
Goal setting may sound cliche. I know I used to think it was and I thought that just going to work was the answer. But it's not, it's only a part of becoming successful in your business.
